2019 Annual Conference A Success!

The 19th Annual Conference was held on November 4th & 5th at the Crowne Plaza in Hickory, NC.  In addition to enjoying great accommodations and meals, attendees benefited from two full days of career development and educational opportunities.

Between scheduled presentations, participants found plenty of time to network with other permitting professionals from across the state to discuss unique challenges and share solutions. There was also time for attendees to enjoy the local atmosphere and support local businesses.

The conference began with a warm welcome from the Mayor of Hickory. The guest speakers presented programs on a number of topics of specific interest to permitting professionals, including the importance of humor in our daily lives, Architectural Board regulations, legislative changes, internet safety, working with the public and inspectors, and the emerging hemp industry as it relates to zoning and permitting.

Representatives from the three licensing boards (General Construction, Electrical, and Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinkler Contractors) and the North Carolina Department of Insurance were also in attendance and participated on both days, providing important information on building codes, as well as the laws and rules specific to the trades.

All in all, the conference was a great success and enjoyed by all.  Check back here in mid-2020 for information on the 20th Annual Conference, as the North Carolina Permitting Personnel Association celebrates two decades of professional development and networking!
